Desert tortoises living in the southwestern regions of the US are presently listed as an endangered species.

Hence the fact that many conservationists will probably not take lightly to the fact that hundreds such animals currently living at the Desert Tortoise Conservation Center near Las Vegas, Nevada might soon be euthanized.
